A nearly decade-in-the-making infrastructure project just got its builder. Gerber Construction was awarded the State Street Watermain Replacement Project in Big Rapids following the City Commission's approval of a $2.5 million Michigan Strategic Fund grant. The project — valued at nearly $5.7 million — will replace an aging watermain along the State Street corridor between Cedar Street and the Ferris State University campus. Construction is expected to begin Spring 2027.
In commercial and industrial concrete construction, floor flatness, elevation accuracy, drainage performance, and overall consistency directly impact the long-term performance of a project. That's why Gerber Construction continues to invest in advanced equipment and technology — including 3D laser screed systems that help deliver highly accurate concrete placement across a wide range of project types.
