Gerber Construction handled the finished concrete for the new Biggby Coffee in Reed City — parking lot, sidewalks, and curbs — helping shape the site ahead of one of the busiest grand openings the corner has seen.
Owned by Brock Demo, the drive-thru location opened its doors September 1, 2026, at 4843 220th Avenue, at the intersection of U.S. 10 and U.S. 131. Gerber was proud to play a part in a project that's already become a new local landmark for travelers and residents alike.

CHALLENGE
A high-traffic corner, ready for day one.
Positioned at the intersection of U.S. 10 and U.S. 131, the site needed concrete work built to handle heavy drive-thru traffic from day one — and it did. Cars wrapped around the building before 8 a.m. on opening morning.
APPROACH

Gerber's crew poured and finished the concrete curbing throughout the parking lot, shaping the site's layout and setting the stage for a smooth, functional drive-thru experience.
RESULT
A grand opening that exceeded expectations.

Biggby Coffee held its ribbon cutting at noon on Tuesday, September 1, at its new Reed City location — bringing a drive-thru coffee option to travelers and residents at the U.S. 10 and U.S. 131 interchange. Gerber Construction's role centered on the concrete parking lot curbs, work completed ahead of a grand opening that drew a steady stream of customers from the moment the doors opened.
Owner Brock Demo said customer volume exceeded expectations throughout the morning, with the drive-thru line reaching the road before 8 a.m. Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce coordinator Sally Daling noted the new location fills a gap for the area, since the closest Biggby had previously been in Big Rapids — and that the U.S. 10/131 intersection is already a major stopping point for travelers passing through.
Projects like this also lean on relationships built over years of self-performed work — partners like Elmer's Construction are part of how Gerber keeps a job moving without surprises. Knowing the right people, and having them show up when it matters, is part of what self-performing our own trades makes possible.
It's the kind of project Gerber is glad to be part of: a small piece of infrastructure supporting a new business that's already become a fixture for the community.
During its second week open, Biggby Coffee plans to donate $1 from every cup sold to a local organization — keeping the impact of the new location local to Reed City.
